water pump leak 900 1993

Noticed a bit of coolant in the morning in the garage. Sent to mechanics, nothing noticeable. No leakage when engine is hot. Finally trace to the water pump when the engine is cold not driven for 5 hours. It is not even leak but a few drops of coolant at the bottom of the water pump at the joint between engine nad the water pump. Mechanics advises to leave it since no overheating, no significant loss of coolant and change the entire cooling system when leakage becomes worst. Experts out there any comments. My concern does it damage the engine or cause some other damage if the few drops is not fixed rightaway. I suspect it is the due to the expansion and contraction of water pump seal?
