I just bought an '82 244 GL 4spd w/od. with 189K on the odometer from a fellow Brickboarder for $200. Thanks Mark!
She has minimal rust on the rear quarters, the overdrive and blower motor work flawlessly. She has the blue pinstripe interior (in good shape) with ambient temp guage, fog lamps and oem hitch, turbo sway bars and Koni shocks. She also has the 740 10 spoke Nova X wheels.
She needs some TLC and parts which I have on hand. A matching drivers seat, tail lamps, power antennae and various relays. The electricals were a PITA to fix. She will need new bushings all around but I have done them before.
Finally, my question is: I can't find the vaccuum leak on the engine. It has been 8 years since I owned a Volvo with the B21f engine (my first Volvo was an '81 244DL.) I've replaced the vaccuum lines that I have found. There is one open ended hose attached to a tee fitting that goes to a white check valve that comes from one port of the fuel regulator back to another port. On my friends turbo it goes to the head but I can't find it anywhere. I also cleaned the idle air control valve but she idles real rough when cold but only a slightly rough when warmed up. I don't remember how to check and adjust the fuel/air mixture. My service manuals are for the B230 only because the 7 other Volvos we own are '87 and newer. She does have an exhaust manifold leak. Would that cause the o2 sensor to change the fuel/air mixture and provide a rough idle? I don't see black soot coming from the exhaust or is the mixture created too lean. If so will it burn my valves
BTW I will have to change my name to "8 Volvofamily" or simply "Too many Volvos to keep track of". Thanks fellow Brickboarders for your help in keeping them all running.
