SUs general 140-160

So.. I've decided it's time that I dive into an area of my old volvos I've been avoiding for quite some time. The carbs.. I've got 4 and soon to be 6 SU carbs.. and I want to rebuild a pair and hopefully tune them in the next 8 months :)

So I've got lots and lots of newbie questions. Hopefully someone will have the patience to help me out a bit. I have a haynes book on SUs and Webers. Haven't had a chance to really dive into it yet though.

Some general questions:

Where is a good place to get all the wearable items that I will be needing?

Is buying a SU "tool kit" something that I should look into?

I know enough that different cars came with different model SUs.. I don't know what I have, nor what is the generally accepted "good" version though.

If the fund gods line up correctly I will be putting these carbs on a newly rebuilt b20 hopefully with a head thats had work done to it and a slightly more exicting cam.. Any suggestions as to what I should be doing with the carbs? Heat shields, spacers/gaskets to stop heat transfer, velocity stacks, jetting? Or other carbs completely?

Thanks for your time,

Hudson
