SUs general 140-160

All just my opinions of course.

Parts? Joe Curto in NY or Tom Bryant in ME.

Special tools? No. You can do anything on an SU with "regular" tools.

SUs? They are all good. Compare with your Haynes to figure which model you have.

Heat shields yes. Spacers, others use them, I haven't noticed a problem without them.
Velocity stacks, no experience.
Jetting, I use BBB needles in HIF carbs on my B20 with 0.030" overbore and they work very well.

Other carbs? Can't say but I have been very pleased with H4, HS6, and HIF6 carbs on my Volvos.
