Fuel Sending Unit 120-130

I don't have a fuel sending unit in my '65 220. A previous owner pulled it out and fabricated an aluminum cover. I called IPD and contacted Swedish Treasures about getting a new unit but both put the delivery out about 2-3 months and quoted me $125. I called a local volvo volvo repair shop (Rainbow Larry's in Bellingham, WA) and he said I might have some luck getting an aftermarket fuel sending unit. Does anyone out there have any experience putting an aftermarket fuel sending unit in a 122?
