How can I test the OD relay..... 200

on my 1985 5 speed manual 240 DL? I can't get 5th gear to engage. The shift light on the dash doesn't come on when I try to shift to OD. I checked the push button switch and it's OK. I tried to turn the power on, put the tranny into 4th gear and pull the shifter back and to the right as the archives suggest but still no dash light no. I thought my next step would be to test the OD relay before I get into it any deeper. Is there a way to test the relay? Any other suggestions?
