Rear end noise on my '82 245 200

Thanks again in advance for all your help!
Same problem, haven't found a solution yet. I've got som whirring noise coming from my rear end and believe that it originates in the pinion bearings and/or pinion and crown wheel gears. I've replaced the axle bearings and all the bushings in the rear end already. No luck finding a low-mileage rear end with the ratio I need (3.54, driven by an M46). Any good ideas about whether I should attempt to replace these parts myself? If so, where might I locate parts, and the mysterious "differential stretcher"?

Thanks again in advance!

Steve
