back-fire when cold 200

"If I drive my 82' 245 without warming her up first, she hesitates when given gas."
The fuel mix needs to be a bit richer in a cold engine else it doesn't fire properly. The car hesitates because the mix isn't igniting when called upon.

"Yesterday she backfired for the first time when I was accelerating too quickly when cold."
Because the fuel mix didn't ignite when it was supposed to, it got pushed out into the exhaust where hot gases expelled from another cylinder ignited it giving backfire.

"Any suggestions?"
Drive slowly until the engine has warmed up.
