Replaced engine in 940 gl but won't crank 900

Please help!
I had a GM mechanic friend of mine replace my old engine in my 940, and everything matched up all too well. When we tried to start the car it just turns and turns, but it won't start.
I am very very non mechanically inclined but I am going to try to translate what has been told to me so that I can pass any information that is gathered here along.
He says that it is not getting fire on 1 and 4. He has changed the rotor, plugs, and wires. (I'm pretty sure that is what he said.)
When he put my old wiring harness on, he was not sure whether or not the injector connections had to be a certain way or whether it just fit how it could fit.
I really need some feedback as to what would cause a used replacement that was running fine, not to start when put into another vehicle. OK, maybe that is a bit broad, but please anyone that has any input is welcome to toss me some ideas to pass on.
Or email ideas to wfpdarts@bellsouth.net
