Well, things are a little too calm around my house so I thought I'd try a little project. I am going to install a pair of DCOE 40 weber carbs on my 1957 444. I already have the bottoom end built and balanced, the head is ported, polished and the cc's are at 47.5 or 9.8 compression ratio. I have HS6 SU carbs and they are flawless ...but I have the itch! The SU's have had DX,ZH,RG,RH,W02 and finally KN needles. I have Pertronix and a one wire GM Alternator and disc brakes all around. A fuel cell (16 gallons) and fiberglass fenders(4) and hood. I have 19,500 miles in less than a year and no problems. The why would I chuck everything in a smooth running engine and open the door to these monster carbs? I don't know...maybe because "it's there"...or "Because I can" but most likely it's because I want to give it a try. I've heard how the set up is difficult but if not now...WHEN? So I bought the carbs and will begin the transformation. I have mastered SU's and they are holding me back. I'll keep you posted with the progress.
