Dome light and CL problem 200 1987

Ever since I installed central locking in my sedan this summer, I have been having trouble with the dome light. When the switch is in the normal position (door open = light on, closed = off), the light will always stay on regardless.

When installing the new-from-the-box Volvo CL, I believe I followed the instructions very closely: Power from the glove compartment light cable, ground from the center console frame. My only amateurish attempt to fix this has been to relocate the CL ground. Which didn't solve the problem.

My current theory is that I may have created a short at a light connection while running the wires for the CL. Apart from digging into the panels for a visual check, what options do I have?

Thanks,
Erling.
