it started with that oil change

If you have a turbo that was grossly overfilled and ran that way for quite some time and it started sucking oil pass the turbo and creating black smoke and running really crappy. The exhaust starts smelling really bad the gas mileage drops to 10 mpg or less.(Better yet look up the syptoms my dad listed for me under the Post MIDas not a golden touch).
But anyway my dad is under going his treatment and he told me to unplug the hose that plugs into the turbo Y-connection on one end and the oil seperator on the other end and see if it runs better.
OH YEAH! No more black smoke mileage is back rattle in lower compartment if you get on it to hard but, boost is back to more normal.Still,I know I can't leave hose undone. It smells like a car with a bad pcv valve. My dad is going to be in hospital at least 2 months.anyone out there know what he's trying to find out by unplugging that hose. And since it seems to fix it by unplugging. What is the permanent fix? Thanks guys.
Jessica
