Hi Ed,

If you're stressing at all over not ordering a new pump, it doesn't sound like you are the risk-taking experimental sort regarding this job, but on the other hand, a $150 car sort of says the opposite.

Regarding the tank pump not stranding you, I would add the caution to keep the tank fairly full, because it will cause problems less than half full and possibly shorten the life of the more expensive main pump if it is sucking a lot of air.
