Weird electrical problem 700 1989

This one's a stumper; my 1989 745's headlights were mismatched so I decided to replace all 4 lights along with the turn signal and marker bulbs. Well, after replacing them, my L turn signal and marker refuse to work. I can hear the relay by the P/S reservoir clicking but no lighting at all, even the parking light refuses to light up now. Start the car and turn on the headlights to lo-beam; the Left lo-beam is barely lit and both hi-beams are glowing faintly...
No amount of bulb switching and cleaning seems to make it work properly.

The clincher is that while the car was running I click the hi-beams and the car dies!!! I was able to make this happen on command 3 or 4 times; next thing you know the battery was dead. All in less than 10 minutes!!! What the heck is going on here?!?!? Did I mess something up?
