exhaust leaking into my wagon 200 1986

I've been having exhaust odors in the car. Enough so that my girlfriend tells me I smell like exhaust after driving. Enough that I feel lightheaded/dizzy sometimes when/after driving. I'm pretty worried. Two different muffler shops have said that the exhaust is tight. From manifold back it is 2 years old or less. The cat back is the IPD sport - header and cat were also replaced. The last exhaust guy said that I may be getting exhaust in the tailgate. The seals are old and I don't think they mate very well. Where can I get new tailgate seals for a reasonable price. What else can I do to keep exhaust out of the car? How should I point the tailpipe? Are any of the extensions worth using?
Please help. Any advice is appreciated.
