Hi,
The owner's manual for my 89 340 says that I should use DOT Type 4 brake fluid. I've got several bottles of Type 3 that I would like to use up for a change. Googling indicates that the fluids are compatible but that Type 4 has some extra additives (borates?) that raise the boiling point but may shorten life due to water absorption characteristics. I change every 30k or so so longevity isn't a huge issue.

Is it ok to use the Type 3 in my 240?
