Battery warning light on 200

Slight little problem here....
I had my overdrive solenoid and speedometer cable replaced by my mechanic last week. Ever since they were replaced, the "OD OFF" button stays on (OD works though) and the light flickers when idling. Also the rear defroster light ceases to work for some random reason (The defroster still works)..And when I picked the car up from the mechanic's today, (The speedo. cable needed to be replaced...AGAIN) the Battery warning light was on. So I opened up the hood and much to my dismay, there were several exposed wires on this electrical circuit doo-dad thingy that's located near the automatic transmission fluid (It's attached to the actual metal of the car though, it's not part of the engine.) So I was like "Uhhh okaaayyy....I'll just tape these here wires up and I'll be on my way." And it worked-or so I thought. When I was driving home from work, the thermostat and the gas gauge decided that they don't want to work now either, and the battery warning light permanently stays on. What in god's name is going on? I think my 240 is posessed...
