740 Vibration 700

Hey folks, just picked up an 89 740 N/A auto in great condition. 167k miles, mint body, great interior (save for headliner), and great overall shape. Only one problem, when the car is running, there's a vibration prevelant in the interior. It feels like an exhaust vibration. But when you drive, you can hear/feel the 1st gear whine, and when in reverse with your foot on the brake, there's what feels like driveline shudder. This anomoly is very hard to describe, but I'm really thinking it's a transmission mount.

Originally I thought it was an exhaust vibration, like the assembly was hitting the body somewhere, however after I checked all the hangers, their hung on the rubber hangers and there's no metal on metal contact anywhere. The previous owner said that this never happened before he had his driveshaft repaired, so I'm thinking that the mount was broken or poorly installed. It looks worn out as well.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy or missing something? It looks easy enough to replace and pretty cheap too.

Thanks in advance

-Matt
