Removing Screen on MAFS S90-V90 1995

This topic reminds me of those overpriced vortex air intake devices that claim to save you a fortune in gas. Click and Clack made the good point that after installation of one of these, you probably drive more carefully, explaining any benefit.
No less than the Gothenburg Bible recommends screen removal (both) and filing the throttle plate, all for better airflow(has anybody done this?). I have chickened out and removed the aft one. I imagine that the car is more responsive. I have seen no increase in gas mileage.

I would remove the AMM screens (probably generic to all Bosch units) but would not remove the airbox snorkel. Who knows how much time Volvo spent on that?
