New Volvo Tail Light Assembly Circuit Board Problem 200 1988

I had two, new taillight assemblies (Volvo) installed in my 88 240 sedan.

The lightbulb failure light came on, and I checked the tail lights; the driver's-side assembly was out. I found that pushing the car's taillight wire terminal hub more tightly into the taillight assembly's receptacle fixed the problem, but it keeps happening.

The terminal/receptacle thingy seems to need downward pressure. That is, after connected, if I press downward (toward the ground/trunk bottom) on the connection, the tail light goes on.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but should I just try and adjust the whole assembly, so that the connection "fits"? Or should I be checking the circuit board/terminal copper?

TIA<
JM
