Check Engine Indicator ON 700

at your age and mileage it could also be the rpm indicator sensor which is mounted on the bell housing. The Independent Diagnostic Unit (IDU) will check this sensor when your car won't start. ask me how I know this...

One reason the CE light isn't the LED sensor light is because the IDU came long after the instrument clusters....it was just easier to put everything under the hood where you can move the various items like throttle, etc, and listen for the injector operations, etc., when implementing various options on the IDU.
