940GLE 4cyl (non-turbo) Electrical problem (total power loss) 900 1995

I experienced total loss of electric power while driving. The car stumbled and all dashboard indicator (idiot) lights came on. I replaced the battery with a new one and the car ran fine. The following day, again while driving, the same thing happened. Does anyone have any ideas?
