65 s122 120-130

In june I bought my neighbors 65 s122 and drove it for all summer. Starting like 2-3 weeks ago it wasnt running very smooth so my friend came over and adjusted the valves (he has like 4 or 6 bugs and works on them all). some of them were super tight and some were totally loose. SO we tightened the loose ones down about as far as we could and test drove it. It was running even worse, so we limped it back home and checked the valves again... and a bunch of them were already loose again! So we tightened those up and now it won't even start. My friend thinks I need longer adjusters.

it should be a good engine it supposedly is rebuilt. And all the valves should be tight enough now that we did them twice. I took the distributor out to check it to see if the timing is messed up.
