Hi:

Two years ago I replaced the trashed B230FT in my 86 Wagon with a 1992 Low Mileage B230FT from a reputable yard. This was the last version before Oil Squirters were installed. I was assured it was an excellent engine with a 90 day warranty.

It probably was overkill, but I took nothing to chance. I pulled the pan and Plastigauged all the bearings. I also pulled the head and miked the walls.

Everything was perfect, with bearing and wall clearances exactly where they should be. Negligible ridge with crosshatch marks still visible.

I installed it and fired it up, guess what? PISTON SLAP!! I was upset, how can this be? Then I started reading post from this board and others and learned to live with it.

My piston slap is not loud and goes away completely in about a minute. Like John said, when warm all you hear are the Injectors firing, with slight valve and belt noise. It's been like this for 2 years with no change.

The fact that you have the 94-95 and yours doesn't go aways leads me to believe you have other problems.
