Function of Radio Suppression relay? 700

Art,

Just yesterday, I got the coil off a Regina car at the pick-n-pull. I already have a good spare, but since I just got another Regina 740 I figured, why not two? It looks kinda cruddy and I was thinking of taking it back anyway.

Like most people on this board, I owe you one (or more), so if you think it would be a useful test, I will try that bad boy unloaded while I watch the tach. I'm really not too concerned because I think a lot of us must have been boneheaded enough to forget one end or the other of the coil wire when changing that or the distributor cap. I would think if it was anything close to instant death, the board would have had that in it's lore long ago.
