244 brake light woes

OK - just finished timing belt, water pump, hoses, drive belts, tune up and flame trap replacement on the wagon (in preparation for our first kid coming sometime this month).

Now I'm looking at the sedan and wondering what is going on with the brake light. It is always on the bright position, even when driving with the lights on but not applying the brake.

I replace the whole housing with a scan-tech part, and put in a volvo socket and bulb. Is there any secret to getting the light to work?

regards,
pu
