cruise isnt working now! 200 1986

hey guys, another post from me today. I drive about 140 miles/day on I-65 to go to college (still cheaper than living there) in my '86 245. This thing runs awesome and the cruise keeps my leg from getting really sore. well last winter i replaced the clutch so the pedal is a bit lower, it is adjusted right though. but i had to superglue a little piece of plastic onto the cruise switch so it would reach the pedal arm....this made my cruise work just great, no problems...well that piece is still there but the cruise isnt working. i checked the fuse box and all is well and not corroded there, i can't seem to find any of the vaccum lines off or split or anything.. what else could this be? i doubt the switch would all of a sudden go bad like that... do the cruise brains go out like that? i need it back!
