Trailer Hitch -- dumb question 700 1988

I am thinning the herd a bit -- selling a 745. It has a factory trailer hitch which I plan to keep for future use. Looking at how the hitch is attached to the car, it appears it is held by three bolts on each side. My question is, what are the bolts attached to? Are the mounting spots pre-threaded so I can just remove the bolts, or do I need to be looking for nuts up there somewhere?? Do I need to replace the bolts once the hitch is removed, or is it okay not to? If the bolts secure something else functional, then certainly I would want to put them back.

Thanks for your help.
