FYI-Clearing 89 ABS codes 700

I have been plagued with an ABS dash lite that wouldn't quit. I learned from this forum that any codes in memory will keep this lite lit and cause the ABS to not fumction. I also learned that the diagnostic code black box didn't become part of the system until 92 or 93. Reading the Volvo ABS tech manual did not state how to clear the codes on the early models so I tried almost everything to no avail. Then I had to replace tha starter motor, the natural first step being to disconnect the battery. Voila! Cleared codes - DUH. At least I'm smarter now.
