Front suspension; clunk on impact 700

My suspension is pretty well worn out on the '88 740 w/v8. I've got IPD springs and bilstein HD's in my garage, going on soon as I get around to it. However - there is a harsh clunk/crash on the front drivers side, only when there is some sort of impact and the spring is momentarily loaded. It is similar to the sound and feel of bottoming out a suspension (or running over a squirrel), however it is not bottoming out (though I'm sure it would still make horrible noises if I did bottom it out!)
So I'm a little worried that there is something wrong with the spring mounting point. It doesn't make any noise if I push on it or jump up and down on it or whatever, just on a loaded impact (say turning right and hit a small sharp bump) or pretty hard impact.

What should I replace along with my springs and shocks? (IPD sways are going on as well, and I already have the cherry upper/lower braces installed)

Thanks for your time.

Regards,
Kevin
