I have been recounting in another thread the various unusual problems that I have run into while trying to remove the M47 from my '89 wagon. I have pulled transmissions from three previous 240's, some of them more than once, and I have never been frustrated by the experience. But I am with this one. Only an hour or so ago did I get to the point where I was ready to separate the bell housing from the engine and, as with practically every other step in this procedure, it is not cooperating. These things usually slide off like a greased pig after some initial prying. Not this one. I swear, it is evil.
I have raised it and lowered it trying to find a sweet spot. I have jostled and cajoled it. I have talked to it. I have begged it to please just cooperate. But it mocks me.
I am incensed. I had to stop trying to get this bastard apart before I started beating on the car with the half inch breaker bar.
So before anyone asks the inevitable, "Did you remove all the bolts," I will ask it myself. I have eight capscrews lying on the garage floor. The two that also hold the starter, two from the top, two from the right side that also hold the bracket for the exhaust pipe support and the two smaller ones from the bottom. I cannot see or feel any other fasteners. Did Volvo throw another one in on the 5 speed just for a joke or something?
