Water pump quicky question 200 1989

Noticed a little dampness around the water pump. Decided I'll do it before I'm forced into it. I'm sure it will be during a blizzard. What the heck , the Pump has 256K miles on it (original)and I bought a pump about a year ago figuring at least I'll have one handy. It's probably time to buy a spare Radiator too. mine is still the original.
First time doing a Volvo pump. Seems pretty obvious how to do it and in the past I have read the BB on how it's done. The question is, What have you guys done to push the pump upward so you get a good seal on that upper 'O' ring?

Is holding up and tightening at the same time good or what do you pry against to get it up there tightly?
Thanks in advance
