Sunroof problems 900

I'm having a classic Volvo sunroof nightmare.

I have a 1992 940 and the sunroof decided to jam partly closed. Wouldn't open, wouldn't finish closing. Worse yet, I couldn't get it into the 'vent' position that the FAQ recommends for disassembly. I won't bore everyone with how I ended up taking it apart, but after about 90 minutes of fiddling it's now apart.

Turns out that my major problem is that the drive cable has detached from the sunroof mechanism on the left side. I have access to the cable at the motor, and I can see the end of the cable in the track....I just have no clue how I'd re-attach it! I will confess that I'm trying to do this repair WITHOUT the Volvo manual, which was probably a mistake.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks!
