Is it possiple to change heater hoses without taking off intake manifold? 200 1989

The car is getting close to red will it sits in traffic. Thought maybe it was the fan clutch but I can see the fan spinning while it idles and after I top up the coolant it cools down and is fine until enough coolant leaks out for it to start to overheat again.
There appears to be coolant under the intake manifold but I can't see an actual drip. I am looking at the heater hoses as the only source of leaking in that location but I can't see if I will be able to get them on and put new ones on without taking off the intake manifold and whatnot. Tried to do a search but could not find any info.
BTW NAPA said just to use 5/8 hose as the replacement?... It looks like if I used just a plain hose that it would kink up...
Thanks
