Volvo Dealer refuses to align my car 900 1995

1995 965, 138k miles.

I had a clunk noise in the front suspension on deceleration. After a bit of correspondence on this board, it seemed as though the culprit is the control arm bushings. So I order from FCP Groton 2 of: lower control arm with new bushing, stabilizer links, balljoints; I install them myself. The clunk noise disappears, and the rear bushing on the right side arm certainly had it's share of deterioration. The consistent advice from Brickboard, Chilton's & Haynes is to take the car into a shop with a proper alignment lift & have the car aligned. Sound advice, as I realise that I cannot get the degree of precision necessary with my shadetree-mechanic tools.

So, I take the car to Martin's Volvo on 11th Ave in Manhattan. I figure if anyone would be able to correctly align the car, it would be them.

They refuse to align the car because it has "aftermarket parts".

What should I do? Should I take this up with FCP Groton? I did not realise that the parts they sold would render my car 'persona non grata' at a dealer.

Any recommendations for a shop in NYC?

I had hoped to save a little money by doing the work myself, but this is starting to look like a costly adventure.

Thanks
Ted
