suspension becoming harsh 900 1993

I have a 93 940 turbo, 240,000 kms, which I have owned for just over a year. The car has been troublefree so far, and is in great shape overall (no rust etc) and the motor is really robust.

The only thing that I am noticing about the car is that the suspension is somewhat harsh going over potholes, manhole covers, road ripples etc. Not so harsh that anybody riding in the car notices, but I notice. It just doesn't roll like a newer car does. There is no uneven tire wear, and the car handles well. The harshness seems to diminish after the car has been driven for a few miles.

Could it be that the shocks are ready for replacement? What is the lifespan of stock Volvo shocks?

Thanks,
Tim Allix.
