Quality of GMB water pump for B230FT 900

How good are the GMB water pumps for B230FTs ? I had my previous water pump replaced in Dec 2002. 3 yrs later(now) the "new" water pump started leaking around the seals, on removing it I noticed that it was a GMB unit. I have read elsewhere on the board that the GMBs have lifetime warranty and so some people prefer that to the OEM volvo pump or the Hepu. Then I bought a Signature water pump from Advance auto and installed it but the thing started leaking at the coolant return line almost immedediately. So I bought a new GMB pump from FCP groton and gave it to the local indie to replace yesterday. Thinking about it I was wondering whether I had made the wise decision under the circumstances. I am thinking whether or not I should have bought a hepu or OEM volvo pump instead. I thought these water pump/seals normally last 5-6 yrs or so. Any thoughts ????
