Blowin' Smoke! 740 turbo 700 1988

So I just replaced the head gasket due to a coolant loss. While I was there I pulled the turbo, cleaned it up, looked it over, put it back in.(Long story short)I got everything back together, starts right up, runs fine, but now it's blowing grey smoke and going through oil PDQ. I pulled the spark plugs and they don't look oil-fouled. Flame trap/pcv is all cleaned out; pulled the oil separator box from under the intake and washed all the crud out. Smoking is worst on cold start, but even when it's warmed up I can tell- the back of the car is all sooty. Now at 218,000 miles; runs fine but pollutes too badly to drive! What am I missing? Is oil leaking into the exhaust via the turbo?
TIA
