HELP - No Start - Can a RUBE test the ignition module? 700 1989

This 89 760 w/?? mileage (says 130K but I have doubts). Had a no start a week or so back, and I fiddled with some wires at the coil/distributor and it cranked. Today it does the same thing - but I can't wiggle it enough to get it to run this time.

The faq's point to a possible failure in the ignition module behind on the fender well above/by the battery. How is this checked? I have hand tools only, so I may end up having it towed in anyway. Hope not! Parts at the dealership are HIGH!!

The last trip to the shop I replaced the distributor(used), plugs, timing belt, seals, some gaskets.

Any other hints would be great. Thanks.
