Replacement heater control valve in '89 240DL 200

Hi!

We purchased an '89 Volvo 240DL recently and I need to install a new heater control valve. I purchased this "replacement style" one on Ebay from FCP Groton:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8008972855&category=33548

However, the instructions that came with it are very poorly written, and my Bentley service manual only shows how to replace the "old style" valve control. The eBay listing also had a set of instructions that had been pasted from the Brickboard FAQ, but they don't go into details of mounting this new type of valve control.

Art Benstein was kind enough to direct me to this site and said that someone had posted a message a while ago that did a nice job of explaining the details. I tried searching the site but haven't come across the post yet (there are a great deal of posts that mention heater control valves!) If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated :)

I have a general idea as to what's involved (I already took a good look at the old heater control valve, hoses etc.) but my main concern is how to properly mount this new one. The instructions simply say (in broken English) "Cut off the part of the console that the old heater valve was fixed to (picture E) cut like the arrow shows... Mount the new heater valve as showed in the picture but don't tighten the clamps yet." The pictures they refer to are very poor and aren't helpful at all!

Thanks in advance,
Chris Clay
