Wiper arms with too much 'swing' angle 120-130

Hey All,

The NorthWest rains that have finally started-in this year have let me know that I've got a leak in my windshield now. It's in the lower right hand corner and I think I have a strong suspicion it is related to my how my wiper-blade arm on that side is behaving. When I have the blades set to move at their fastest "strongest" setting, the one on that side goes kind of crazy and actually goes over the bottom edge of the rubber with a small clunkety-clunk. I think this is what has possibly beat the original caulking or glue loose in the rubber on that side and thus cuased the leak. I've let that arm get away with that for some time becuase, well; fear of having to get under the dash to deal with it to be frank. I was also able to forget about it for a good long time during these last nice summer months.

So... I'm wondering if some of you might have some experience with the apparatus under the dash that moves the arms, and if I will have options for re-setting the amount of angle they have to play across the winshield? Am I in for a major hassle here...? I figure that I should finally fix the wiper problem before trying to re-seal the glass and rubber of the windshield.

Also... once I get this windshield wiper arm under control, would it be OK to use some of that "RTV Silicone" that I heard mention of in a lower thread on the windshield rubber gasket? I've heard that some silicone products can eat rubber away, but perhaps that's wrong information I've heard?
