O.D. engaging 1800 1967

This happend to my 71 1800 about 6 years ago. I removed the solenoid and put a new o-ring washer on the shaft. when you remove the solenoid you will see the rubber o-ring right away, it's real obvious.
P.S... I bought the o-ring at a hardware store in the plumbing Dept.(cost about 25 cents) It's been running fine now for 6 years.
