gearbox/diff noise 200 1980

HELLO MAVENS. I HAVE A 1980 262C WITH BW55 AND 3.54 DIFF. IT HAS A NOISE WHICH COMES FROM THE AREA OF THE GEARBOX OR REAR END WHEN YOU ARE COASTING WITH BOX MANUALLY HELD IN 2 OR 1. DOESNT SEEM TO BE A NOISE IN 3 WHEN COASTING.

IT IS ALSO NOISY WHEN INFIRST GEAR AT ANY TIME

IS THIS GEARBOX OR DIFF OR BOTH?
