Oil Pressure Light, Synthetic Oils and Filters 120-130

Just a couple of quick questions (and I did check the archives), My oil pressure light is on, or flickering when the engine is cold, then when the engine is warm, it turns off (unless I am cornering). I changed the pressure sender to try to fix the problem, but it hasn't worked. Thoughts? Should I get a mechanical gauge just to check? Is this normal? I have a couple of spare senders, should I try another (pain to get on)?

While changing the sender, I changed the oil to a full synthetic oil (10W30)and a Fram PH7328 (what I can get locally) and have noticed that the full synthetic oil has to be changed (It's looking a dirty after only 400 miles). I know some hate the Fram (and it has twice as many holes as the Volvo/Mann filter), but does anyone use them without incident? Could the different filter be causing the pressure sender problem?

Thoughts?
Craig
