Noise suppression relay 700 1989

I was having a bad idle shudder/searching on my 89' 745T that eventually left me stranded with a no-start issue. After checking fuel delivery, I started shaking every connector in the engine bay looking for a culprit. I wiggled the connector under the distributor cap (Hall?) as well as the large, black relay mounted on the driver strut tower. Voila! the car started!!
I still had the shuddder at idle, but when I tapped the black relay (noise suppression) once again, the car's idle evened out and ran great. Now the car goes through the same shudder once a day while driving; it comes and goes on it's own. I read I can replce it with the aux fan relay; where do I find it? Are these symptoms common with failure of the suppression relay?
