backup lights no longer work! Help!! 200 1992

its not the fuse, it must be the neutral switch. I remember that it stopped working after i had the shifter/gearbox worked on, and ever since then the backup lights havent worked and the light in the shifter has been lighting up the wrong gear!

can someone give me some sort of guidance on identifying this "neutral switch" you speak of? I took the two screws out of the front of the auto-shifter console and slid the cover up (still need to figure out how to removed the autoshifter knob), but i dont know what the hell im looking for. Id also like to properly align the shifter light for the gear indicator, its currently alluminating more of the gear located the below the one i am actually in.

thank you!
