940 rear axle bent 900 1995

Can the axle shaft of a live-axle 940 be replaced with one from a 740 rear end? I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with a bent one here, there's slight bearing noise, and the rotor is jamming against the paking brake shoes every rotation. The car in question was hit on the pass. side, buckling the rear quarter, both doors, and shattering the rim. Seems like that would do it... I'll stick a runout gauge on it to be sure but assuming it is, what differences (if any) are there between the 700 & 900 live-axle rear ends, other than the stock LSD on this car?
Thanks!
