'91 945 / headlight bulbs only last 2-3 months. ? ? ? 900

my wifes 1991 940 SE wagon has progressively began consuming headlamp bulbs
lately they randomly seem to burn out within 8-10 weeks. have tried
cheaper ones, silverstars, ect... they all burn out the same.
one side at a time, at random. very strange.

any ideas ? or similar experiences ?
