The differentials are not really interchangeable between a 200 series car and the other rear wheel drives. The rear suspensions are different enough that it won't work. If your abilities are limited to "shade tree mechanic with enough tools to get oneself into trouble" then I would advise not attempting to fix it. Your best bet is probably going to be with just replacing it with a good used unit. Pulling the diff is a heavy beast but not that particularly difficult.
