Preparing for center console surgery... any suggestions? 200

My car is a 1982 242 turbo; 307,000 miles. The defroster fan has been whining for a while, and the heater control valve has been in the "digital" mode for about 5 years.

It's time to fix them both.

I got a new, old style all-metal heater control valve, and I've got a fan kit on the way (fan, resistor, switch). I also ordered the three under-dash hoses from the local Volvo dealer yesterday; they should be here Friday or Monday.

Also, like so many 240s, my dash is badly cracked... I found a really good used one (for $10, believe it or not!), so I'm going to go about all this reapir work with the dash off.

So... any suggestions, thoughts, advice, etc??

Thanks!
